Jia Ping is the Programme Director and Head of Corporate Communications for Think City Sdn Bhd, a community-based urban rejuvenation organization, and a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (the strategic investment fund of the Malaysian government). Think City’s main goal is to create more liveable and resilient cities through partnerships with government bodies, private partners and civil society. Jia Ping heads the KL office and is responsible for driving the rejuvenation of the historic core of KL (approximately 1 kilometre radius from Masjid Jamek).

Jia Ping is an Honorary Council Member of Badan Warisan Malaysia and has been working on heritage conservation and preservation as a volunteer since 2001. After George Town was awarded the UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 2008, she was part of the core strategic group led by Khazanah to create a programme to revitalize George Town and ensure it retained its vibrancy as a city. One of the key strategic drivers of the programme led to the formation of Think City Sdn Bhd.

As a member of The Rotary Club of Gombak she was Organising Chair for the club’s Community Care Carnival 2012 which was jointly organised by Tropicana Medical Centre, Caring Citizens and MPPJ. She also coaches SMEs on branding matters in “Up the Ante” on bfm89.9 radio station. From 2012-2015, she was a Guest Lecturer at Sunway University Department of Performance and Media.

Jia Ping holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Melbourne, Australia majoring in Political Science (International Relations).
