Low Ngai Yuen Executive Director for the Global Entrepreneurship Movement

Low Ngai Yuen, a multiple award winning workaholic; is recently appointed the Executive Director for the Global Entrepreneurship Movement, GEM. GEM is a registered NGO that enables global market access for entrepreneurs and alongside this role, Yuen is a passionate social entrepreneur, running multiple businesses to support two causes: the 15 year old Kakiseni that champions the arts and its advocacy; as well as founding WOMENgirls, an NGO dedicated to remind women as role models to younger girls to achieve their potentials. Known also as an acclaimed film producer, director and TV veteran, Yuen sits on the National Women Advisory and Council Board, consulting with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development with regards to women in leadership and decision-making positions.
Back in 2011, she was selected as a subject matter expert for the Prime Minister’s Roundtable on engaging the youth using art as a tool and subsequently, she has the honour to lead in the execution upon mapping out the industry’s growth for the performing arts pillar under the Dasar Industri Kreatif Negara. One of Kakiseni’s most talked about best practice is the black box built to celebrate design and arts, developing shopping malls for site performances. Just last 2016, Yuen’s successfully lobbied for an increase in corporate tax benefit when the art is sponsored and this year she’s working on spreading the knowledge of traditional arts form, the Wayang Kulit to the young generation through children’s storybooks.
